Apple OSx -- Kernel Panic

We saw many users have problems trying to install qmail on Dual Processor Xserve's running OS X Server.

We would like to tell you that acording to our tests (08/11/2004) that it doesn't work under load, with the OS X bombing out occasionally when it tries to use a named pipe - specifically, the 'trigger' file in the queue. Looking at the detail of the thread suggests the problem lies with OS X on multi-CPU systems.

Our test showed that bombarding the qmail server on these machines caused the kernel to panic.

When we looked into it more closely we saw athat there was a problem with named pipes, and digging around at Apple showed that they have anissue with named pipes.

As of 08/11/2004 there is no fix to this issue.
